week 5
I think C belongs to many groups hroughout the movie. C is a son (in 2 ways), a part of his family, a friend, a gangster, a lover, student, and many more. As C progresses throughout the movie his master status changes. As the story starts C is a loyal son to his father, but as he progresses throughout his life he pulls away from that master status. C becomes more of a son to Sunny then to his real father. Overal I think C's master status is being a son, though he changes fathers quite frequently. C has many minor statuses hat change his life dreasticly, being a gangster and lover mainly. The groups that C surrounds himself with ultimatly help to define his life.

I agree with the groups you said he was a part of..and for all of us, including C, the groups we are a part of shape our lives. They also define who we are. Because of Sonny, he is a different man than he would have been if he was merely a son of his own father.
ReplyDeletei agree that C's master group is being a son, to both is father and, in part, to sonny. sonny and his dad shaped his life from the time he was really young up until sonny died when C was a teenager. he impacted his life greatly, as did his dad
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you wrote down for the Master Status that C has. Throughout the whole movie, even at a young age, he seems to be more loyal to Sonny just because he always copies him and what he does. The viewer can tell right off the bat that C likes Sonny; there are no parts in the movie where C acts like his father. I thought that was a little unusual.
ReplyDeleteI like how you noticed C's master status' and how they change. I agree with the fact that he is constantly trying to find what or who is most important to him in his life. It is true that he had two separate father figures and choosing between them was tough for C sometimes. This mmkes me think about about how we are also constantly trying to find what our master is.
ReplyDeletei think if Sonny did not take C under his wing he would just be like his friends. But Sonny helped C to see people for who they really are!
ReplyDeleteCalogero, throughout this movie like you said has lot of minor status. Although he was part of all of these groups, in my opinion only had one status. The son, not only to his father but to Sonny himself.
